Cindy Zarzycki was 13 years old when she was abducted by a child predator. It was not a total stranger that lured her from safety into a trap. He was the parent of a friend. Cindy's family and friends searched for her everyday, everywhere they went, from 1986 until 2008. Her body was recovered more than 2 decades later. Her murderer remains in prison for life.
There are so many child predators, some have been convicted, more than once, some have not been caught yet, and while some are in prison now, the sad fact is they may be released. The law states they must give notice to their location of residence, as well as to stay away from children. They are lawbreakers, so its is unlikely all of them will uphold the laws handed down to them.
We must take the steps to be aware of their agenda and work dilligently within our communities to prevent any child from being harmed in any way. Our intent is to teach out of love, not fear. There are ways to live everyday life, not in fear, but to be safe and aware of your surroundings and prepared if a problem does arise.
The tradgedy that happened to Cindy, affected her whole family, friends, neighbors and the community as a whole. It has forever changed every person that knew Cindy. She was a beautiful, happy, young girl with a whole life of dreams, and a future in front of her. We are here to inspire parents and children to take this seriously.
Ask your children, grandchildren, the "what would you do if..." game. Involve your friends, your community, to keep our precious children out of the hands of these criminals. The few minutes it takes each day to be prepared and plan for the sake of safety, is time well spent.
