Have an OPEN VIEWING POLICY in your home, for text, phone calls, internet web sites, chat rooms, myspace,etc.
It is NOT that you do not trust the child or that you are an overprotective parent-
it is your right to be a GOOD & WISE parent.
PHONES with INTERNET/SKYPE/CHAT capabilities; please take time to review info and talk to your children about the dangers of webcams, on computers and phones, regardless of their age!
This is becoming a problem, take the time to review the rules and safety strategies with them frequently.
Prepare "situational scenarios'"to have their reaction of prevention become habit- do NOT use scare tactics !
( this is the same as fire safety, helmet safety,
you should use prevention steps as your daily habits.)
Through practice and awareness, children will act with confidence instead of reacting with fear.
Keep a watch at public places; if you see or hear anything suspicious, do NOT mind your own business;
write down any info that will help the authorities find the perpetrator, and the ability to return the child safely home.
Spend time every day talking, listening, asking questions, answering questions, get to know the details of their life-the more involved in their life you are-the happier everyone will be.
Do research on various tips & ideas on child safety and abduction prevention- use these tips & ideas ; encourage your friends & family to do the same for their children.
